About

The Domokun Kick-It Crew was formed in March of 2007 as a semi-serious “car crew” of friends that happened to have a common interest: the Acura Integra, specifically the third generation Integra, produced between 1994 and 2001.

Its founding members were frequenters of the all-Integra internet forum, team-integra.net. They all hailed from the San Francisco Bay Area and became acquainted with each other at the various Integra meets organized by other Team Integra members.

The decision to form a car club was not a new one. In 2005, team Pass-On-Left was formed and included current DKC members Max, John, and Greg. However, that team dissolved when Max’s Integra was stolen, and a few other
members went their own ways. Still, Max, John, and Greg kept in contact, and met the other members as time went by.

Originally a half-serious inside joke between friends, Domokun Crew eventually evolved into a full-fledged car club complete with shirts and sweaters that everyone seems to be jealous of. The crew can be found at various Integra events or cruising the backroads together.

If you’re wondering, the Domokun character was chosen as a mascot mostly due to John’s obsession with everything and anything remotely JDM-looking.

Domokun is the mascot of the Japanese television station NHK. It remains a mystery why American television stations fail to have mascots as endearing as Domokun. (A dancing frog? Seriously.) His Wikipedia entry describes him as “a strange monster-like creature born from an egg…short, fuzzy and brown with beady black eyes and an open mouth revealing pointed teeth.” His name is usually hyphenated “Domo-kun,” with “Domo” being Japanese for “Thanks” and “kun” being the Japanese equivalent of “Mr.” for adolescent males (that would make the literal translation of his name “Mr. Thanks”…exciting). He apparently hatched from an egg and greatly enjoys watching television.

A Google search for the word “Domokun” yields more than 302,000 results (and that’s just in English), implying that Domokun is a very popular character indeed. Two Domokuns were featured in the well-known “Every Time You Masturbate, God Kills a Kitten” image, chasing a kitten through a field. Domokuns are the mercenaries of the gods, and they kill kittens when you masturbate.
